I couldn’t let Bubble Gum Day (February 6) pass without sharing one of the most unexpected — and memorable — travel moments we’ve had.

If you’ve ever been to Seattle, chances are you’ve heard of the Gum Wall near Pike Place Market. And if you haven’t… it’s exactly what it sounds like.

A Kid’s Dream… A Parent’s “Hmm”

We were actually on our way to eat lunch when we turned a corner and walked straight into it. Our little guy was thrilled — absolutely excited that he had found something so strange and colorful.

His dad and I?

Let’s just say we were a little less enthusiastic.

But watching his excitement made it worth it.

The Gum Wall Experience

Located in Post Alley, the Gum Wall is one of those places that you don’t really plan to visit — it just happens. It’s quirky, a little gross, oddly fascinating, and definitely unforgettable.

And that’s kind of what travel is all about, isn’t it?

Not everything has to be polished or picture-perfect. Sometimes it’s the weird, unexpected stops that end up being the most talked about later.

Why It Fits Bubble Gum Day Perfectly

Bubble Gum Day is meant to be lighthearted and fun — and the Gum Wall fits that vibe exactly.

It’s:

  • Silly
  • Unexpected
  • Kid-approved
  • A perfect “remember when?” moment

Would I go out of my way to see it again? Probably not.

Am I glad we stumbled upon it? Absolutely.

Final Thoughts

So this Bubble Gum Day, I’m smiling about colorful walls, surprised kids, and travel moments that don’t always go as planned — but end up being memorable anyway.

If you ever find yourself wandering Seattle, keep your eyes open. You never know what quirky landmark you’ll walk into on your way to lunch.
