It’s been almost a year since our quick, cold, whirlwind trip to Cape May, New Jersey, but this little seaside town left such an impression that it feels like we were just there yesterday. Cape May is one of those destinations that blends coastal beauty, small-town warmth, historic charm, and deep community pride — all in one unforgettable package.

A Whirlwind Visit — And Worth Every Minute
We squeezed everything we could into our short stay, layering up against the chilly air and determined to experience as much of Cape May as possible. Even in the winter, the town is vibrant and inviting, with Victorian homes, boutique shops, ocean views, and welcoming locals who are proud of the place they call home.
Despite the cold, Cape May had a quiet elegance — calm beaches, peaceful streets, and that cozy “winter at the shore” feeling that’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it.

A Town Proud of Its Coast Guard Roots
One of the most unique aspects of Cape May is its strong connection to the United States Coast Guard. The town is home to the Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, the only enlisted basic training facility for the entire U.S. Coast Guard.
Every service member who joins the Coast Guard begins their journey right here. Cape May embraces and honors that — you can feel the pride throughout the community. Restaurants, shops, and residents warmly support recruits and their families, making the town feel just as patriotic as it is picturesque.

Cape May at Christmas — A True Hallmark Experience
Visiting during the cold months gave us a glimpse of something magical: Christmas in Cape May.
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to walk through a Hallmark movie set, this is your place.
Think:
-Victorian inns wrapped in twinkling lights
-Candlelit holiday trolley tours
-Festive concerts and events
-Wreaths on every door and garland on every railing
A Town Worth Visiting in Any Season
While many visitors know Cape May for its stunning beaches, vibrant summer season, and dolphin cruises, our winter visit proved that this seaside gem has year-round appeal.
Whether you’re heading there for a Coast Guard graduation, a holiday getaway, a romantic weekend, or a summertime beach trip, Cape May offers something special for every traveler.
And if you’re dreaming about planning your own Cape May adventure — summer, winter, or somewhere in between — I’d love to help you get started.
Cape May may be small, but it leaves a big impression.
