Texas isn’t just big in size — it’s big in culture, variety, and experiences — making it one of the most fascinating states to explore. Whether you’re into vibrant city strolls, coastal beaches, or soon even theme-park magic, Texas has something for everyone.

San Antonio River Walk: The Heartbeat of the City

One of Texas’s most beloved attractions is the San Antonio River Walk — a lively network of pedestrian paths along the San Antonio River that features restaurants, bars, shops, historic sites, scenic views, and riverboat cruises.

As you stroll along the water, it’s not uncommon to meet local characters. One of the River Walk’s unique personalities is the “Texas Bushman” — a man who hides in plain sight dressed like a bush and surprises unsuspecting passersby with playful antics, earning a following online.

Visitors love the River Walk for its blend of culture, food, history, and people-watching, and it’s a great hub from which to explore more of San Antonio.

Texas Beaches: Sun, Sand & Gulf Coast Vibes

Texas’s coastline stretches along the Gulf of Mexico, offering miles of beaches that range from lively and social to peaceful and picturesque.

Popular beach destinations include:

  • South Padre Island — known for its warm water, wide sandy beaches, and family-friendly attractions.
  • Galveston Island — a classic beach town with everything from historic districts to lively waterfronts and water parks.
  • Port Aransas & Mustang Island — perfect beach days with fishing, shelling, and scenic views.

Whether you’re looking to lounge in the sun, splash in the waves, or explore coastal towns and seafood spots, Texas beaches are worth the visit.

Universal Kids Resort (Opening 2026)

Big theme-park news is coming to Texas! A brand-new Universal Kids Resort is under construction in Frisco, North Texas, expected to open in 2026.

This will be the first major Universal theme park in the Lone Star State and is being designed especially for families and children. Attractions will include immersive lands based on beloved characters and franchises like Shrek, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minions, Jurassic World, and more.

The park is expected to offer themed rides, interactive experiences, and a resort hotel, making it an exciting new reason to plan a trip to Texas in the near future.

More to Explore in Texas

Texas offers a huge variety beyond the River Walk and beaches:

  • Historic sites like The Alamo in San Antonio.
  • Cultural cities like Austin, Dallas, and Houston with music, food, museums, and festivals.
  • Outdoor adventures in the Hill Country, Big Bend, and unique landscapes.
